Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question: What are Nest Box Queen Ceramic Chicken Nest Eggs used for?

Answer: Nest Box Queen Ceramic Chicken Nest Eggs are designed to train hens to lay eggs in the correct nesting area. By placing these ceramic eggs in the nest box, chickens can be encouraged to adopt natural laying behaviors. The realistic weight and appearance mimic real eggs, which can enhance the birds' nesting instincts. This is especially helpful for new layers or when introducing hens to a new environment.
  • Question: How many eggs are included in the pack?

Answer: The pack includes six assorted ceramic chicken nest eggs, featuring a mix of brown and white eggs. This variety allows you to visually replicate the different types of eggs that hens may lay, adding a more natural feel to the nesting boxes. Using a mix can also help in reducing stress among hens as they acclimatize to the nesting area, ensuring they feel more comfortable and secure.
  • Question: Are these ceramic eggs safe for chickens?

Answer: Yes, Nest Box Queen Ceramic Chicken Nest Eggs are made from high-quality, non-toxic ceramic material. They are designed to withstand the pecking and movement from chickens without breaking, ensuring a safe environment for your hens. The durability of these eggs means they will last, thus providing a consistent training aid for your flock.
  • Question: How do I introduce these eggs to my chickens?

Answer: To introduce the ceramic eggs, simply place them in the nesting boxes where you want your hens to lay. It’s best to arrange them in a manner that feels natural, mimicking a full clutch of eggs. Monitor your hens over the following days. By seeing and interacting with the ceramic eggs, they are more likely to start laying in that designated area, reducing egg-laying surprises.
  • Question: Can these ceramic eggs be used outdoors?

Answer: While Nest Box Queen Ceramic Chicken Nest Eggs are designed primarily for nesting boxes, they can be used outdoors as long as they are sheltered from extreme weather. If placed outside, ensure they are in a protected area to avoid damage from elements. • Question: Do these eggs mimic the appearance of real chicken eggs?

Answer: Yes, the Nest Box Queen Ceramic Chicken Nest Eggs are crafted to closely resemble real chicken eggs in shape, color, and size. This realistic appearance helps trigger a hen's natural instincts to lay eggs in the nest box. The textured finish of the eggs enhances their authenticity, making it easier for hens to identify them as suitable laying sites.
  • Question: How do these ceramic eggs help with flock management?

Answer: Incorporating Nest Box Queen Ceramic Chicken Nest Eggs into your flock management strategy can significantly improve egg production by guiding hens to the preferred laying areas. This practice minimizes the risk of eggs being laid in unwanted places, making egg collection more efficient.
