Post Rock Editorial Review
**Editorial Review of "Broken Machine (Deluxe)" by Nothing But Thieves** "Broken Machine" marks an engaging evolution for Nothing But Thieves, showcasing a shift away from the raw, guitar-driven sound of their debut album while still maintaining the emotional depth that fans have come to love. As expressed by various listeners, the album features a range of tracks that highlight frontman Conor Mason's remarkable vocal versatility. The title track’s use of garbled distortions complements his voice beautifully, offering a fresh aural experience. Standout pieces like "Sorry" and the piano version of "Particles" evoke strong emotional responses, while songs like "Amsterdam" and "I Was Just a Kid" hark back to the band's signature riff-heavy style, promising exhilarating live performances. Many listeners find themselves falling in love with even the slower tracks upon repeated plays, demonstrating the album's ability to resonate on multiple levels over time. Despite not being as raw as their first album, fans appreciate this evolution, seeing it as a positive development. The highly regarded album cover art also adds a visual appeal that enhances the deluxe edition experience. Overall, many fans express that "Broken Machine" is a solid follow-up to their debut, and some even argue it might surpass it in quality, echoing themes of nostalgia and the enjoyment that comes from revisiting it frequently. **
