Design Editorial Review

The "Programmable Logic Controllers 2nd Edition" by Mr. Petruzella has garnered generally positive feedback from users, particularly for its comprehensive coverage of both basic operations and advanced programming techniques. Many readers appreciate the specificity of the content to Allen Bradley products, making it an ideal resource for students and professionals working in environments that utilize this particular brand of PLCs. The accompanying workbook enhances the learning experience by offering practical programming assignments, which reinforce the theoretical concepts presented in the text. However, some criticisms have been noted regarding the edition's relevance and content depth. Users indicate that this edition does not appear to offer significantly new information compared to the previously published fourth edition. Moreover, the illustrations in this version are in black and white, while newer editions may feature color illustrations. A few readers also expressed concern that certain instructions referenced in the book pertain to outdated PLCs, which may detract from its overall applicability in modern training contexts. Despite these issues, many still regard this book as one of the best available for learning about PLCs. Overall, the book remains a highly recommended resource for those eager to dive into the world of programmable logic controllers, especially within the framework of Allen Bradley systems. **
